Down The Rabbit Hole
Steampunk is not only hot in the jewelry world…some incredible art pieces are out there and you are going to be amazed at these…
Steampunk Sculptures
by Mullanium
Creoflick
In 1991 artist Jim Mullan got collection of old original decoys and they were a studio decoration for many years. In 2006 birds from this collection became the basis of new collection “Songbirds” containing small and big fun steampunk birds.
At the moment Jim Mullan and his wife Tori produce these steampunk sculptures under the brand Mullanium.
If you enjoyed these pieces…there are plenty more waiting for you at Creoflick
I have had a little fascination for installation art lately (a lot of that has to do with my daughters present studies in art).
Here are a few interesting kind of out of the box exhibits …
Check out this exhibit at the Bellagio in Vegas…
these gorgeous paper creations dangle from the sky…
Out of the box for sure but amazing!
Umbrellas seem to be popping up all over…here in Japan
Floating umbrellas are on display
“Beyond Metamorphosis”
A very dramatic effect and one that took an amazing amount of time!
I do believe this is my favorite piece today…This was an installation that took place in France in 2010 called
1600 Pandas
it was created to raise awareness of this gorgeous animal and the fact that there are on the endangered species list with only 1600 left in the wild…even though they have only one predator…HUMANS.
As we remove their natural habitat they are slowly disappearing. This installation piece has great meaning.
1,600 pandas left on earth and a call to people to do their part in helping to reverse the deterioration of our natural environment.
they actually traveled through France…
each bear was hand made from paper mache…
oh the sites they saw as they traveled to raise awareness…
check out their journey
Let’s hope that we never see this exhibit…
Hope you enjoyed this little fall down the rabbit hole this morning!
See you tomorrow for
What’s Cooking!

Hi Andrea! I’a a huge fan of art installations too, especially those that carry a message, such as the “1600 pandas”. A three dimensional message is such a unique experience … literally being surrounded by 1600 pandas and realizing “that’s all there are”, really puts something into perspective and can move people to action, or at least deep thought.
Loved those hanging umbrellas, and if you have a cathedral ceiling something like that could be fun in a room too, as long as you aren’t superstitious about opening an umbrella inside 😉
Have a great weekend,

Andrea, I love all things steampunk! I have to tell you a funny….my fifteen year old is familiar with my steampunk fixation. I was looking at some vintage typewriters on the internet, and my daughter said, oh, look! Steampunk keypads! :/
I feel really old…..
