Cottage of the Week Starring Thistlewood Farm and Your Free Graphic of the day All in one

Welcome to our first and fabulous episode of the...

starrring...

Thistlewood farm

Welcome!
It is so very fitting that the wonderful Karianne from Thistlewood Farm is joining us today to kick-off of the Cottage of the Week Series here at The Cottage Market.   I have known Kari since we both started blogging well over a year ago and she is a pure delight. I have been honored to work with her on blog projects but most of all I am so happy to call her my friend.   Besides being a fabulous lady she has been blessed with so many talents!  Her blog is all about the journey of making a house a home and she is doing that every day of the week.  Even though I am sure you have visited the gorgeous walls of Thistlewood I wanted to share this loving home with you today. First let's meet Karianne and find out a little bit more about her.

Kari and her husband live at Thistlewood with their four children...two boys, two girls...2 dogs...2 cats, 1 tortoise...4 salamanders and 27 deer...now that's a house full.

She says that she is inspired by the world around her.  Kari is blessed to live in the beautiful rural country side of Kentucky where every day looks like a post card.  She says "each of the seasons flow seamlessly together and that there is always something to inspire me!"

Through out the little tour we will find out some decorating tips from Kari and some things about her that just make you smile even more than you are as you view her home and creations.

  Welcome to Thistlewood Farm

Let's go inside...

The Front Entry is welcoming and simply beautiful...

the minute you walk in... your eyes go all over sipping in all of the details...

one of the many shining glories of Kari's home is the kitchen...a picture is worth 1000 words!

 Details once again are everywhere.
One of Kari's favorite things are white dishes.  She says that "they are the perfect accent for anything.  They can look elegant or rustic or classic or ornate."

The dining room is filled with warmth and so much charm.  I am in love with the little pop of checks on the chairs!  Those smocked Jute Curtains are simply amazing...not to mention everything else!

Karianne has had many masterpieces but this new Spring Time Nest Mantle just blew me away...it is pure poetry in motion...

talk about details...I am speechless!  She is so generous she even shares a fabulous tutorial on how to create these winged beauties.
Her mantel art is something to behold...check out this one and others...you will be inspired...guaranteed!

If it is different you want...different she has...this wall of shutters adorns the guest bedroom.   Drop by to see how all of these shutters became united.

this room is so incredibly welcoming and the perfect place for your guests to feel like they never left home.

One can certainly relax...read a book...sip a cup of coffee and just unwind in the stunning library. The room seems seamless.

The Family Room is inviting...comfy and filled with loving touches.  Kari thinks it is a good idea to keep the large pieces in your home neutral.  Then add color in the textiles, pictures and accessories

Here's an awesome POP of pink at Thistlewood...her daughters room is precious.

For a pop of red...the upstairs playroom is the place.
Speaking of RED...Kari LOVES red lipstick : )

Even the hallways are curated with the utmost detail.

This little peek at the master bedroom just makes me smile and the new hand painted floor is simply over the top sensational!

Not only is Kari's home incredible...she can whip up a mean Cherry Cheesecake in a jar too!  Even her desserts reflect her inner spirit.   I have a few insights on what makes Kari so funny and charming...did you know that she adores sweet tea...she loves the corny lady on the Progressive commercials (we have to talk about that one : ) but most of all she loves her knight-in-shining armor!

Thank you Karianne for inviting us into your home...you were the perfect hostess and I am sure you are going to have tons of visitors always...so keep that virtual coffee pot on!

There is so much more to see...like the backporch for example...

once you hop onto this blog you will be there for hours so bring a cup of something yummy with you.  More incredible rooms...recipes....projects... and more!
Kari didn't receive the Blue Ribbon
from Country Living
for nothing !

Before you go...I want to give you your Graphic of the Day now so this beautiful home remains showcased and a little story about how this new feature came to be.

About a year ago right after a great few months of blogging, my blog seemed to die.  I didn't know what happened and was searching to see what was going on.  The hits fell to nothing and I can't lie...I was a very depressed.  So the thoughts of another blog came to my mind.  During this time my dear dear loving friend Keren from Free Pretty Things for You suggested that I do a facebook page to experiment with...so she surprised me with a name and a wonderful logo and sent me on my way.

So in July I started this new journey, sharing pictures, home decor hints and tips and more on this facebook page with Keren cheering me on every step of the way (she is simply amazing).  It has become pretty popular in a short period of time and I was going to start a new blog...but then...my dear and clever friend Gina from The Shabby Creek Cottage found out what caused the problem with The Cottage Market kind of by accident ...it was the back end...my feedburner was not working at ALL...so she got that fixed about 5 weeks ago and The Cottage Market came back to life almost instantly and has been growing the past month very quickly and now has a new life!  I have to tell you that made me feel so much better that it wasn't really me : )  So I am combining Distressed Cottage style and philosophy to the weekends here at The Cottage Market as a second blog just might be over the top for me...making the weekends all about home.  I truly hope you enjoy it and I am totally up to suggestions and requests!

I can tell you one thing...I am so blessed with such
loving and incredible friends...just want you all to know how much I love you!  Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

So I invite all of you to join me over at
 Distressed Cottage
Which by the way hit over 10,000 likes last night : )
Keren...THANK YOU THANK YOU for being you! Caring and loving so deeply to make this happen for me.  Without your inspiration...love and encouragement it would never have happened!

  10. Cute graphic. Wow, I love this post, too! Kari is so creative, and her home is stunning. You've got to like a gal who oves red lipstick, and I totally agree about white plates. Food always looks better when presented on white, and although I don't have many white plates, I do have lots of white serving pieces!

    Great post!!!
