Welcome to another episode of the Cottage of the Week Home Tour series. Sit back and relax a bit with your favorite cuppa and visit with Barbara and family at The Everyday Home. This home is warm, welcoming and wonderful. The kind of place where you want to kick off your shoes…chill and be surrounded by warmth and love.
I would like to introduce you to Barbara in case you don’t all ready know her : ) She is a wonderful lady that has some resume behind her! She is most proud of her wonderful marriage…her three adorable furry babies … being Mom to her son wonderful son…her loving daughter-inlaw and oh yes…3 gorgeous and adorablegrand children. Barabara’s accomplishments in life have been many including studying abroad…being seen on HGTV and the Food Network and oh yes…making it to level 3 of 5 of HGTV’s The Next Design Star…just to mention a few things! I personally would like to take a moment to thank Barbara’s family for their immense service in our military. Barb’s husband served 30 years+ in the Marine Corps, her son Blake who is a 3 time Iraqi Soldier and Vet and her daughter-in-law Amanda who also served 2 tours Iraqi Soldier and Vet. Applause and a warm and loveing thank you to this wonderful family! There’s more and you can read about it here!
Now it is time to welcome you to The Everyday Home and look at this…Boo-Boo Bunny, of the three cutie cats of the family has come out to greet us…how cute is this 17 year old patriarch of the family!
First we step up on what the family calls “The Little Porch that Could”
Let’s sit for a second…
then let’s go in for a visit…knock knock!
As we enter the foyer which is a long space you can all ready tell that this house is one that is filled with love.
The details are every where! Oh and you must read about the pig that doesn’t fly!
Barb brings in the outdoors with style from her garden! Fresh and Fab don’t you think!
Can I tell you how much I love this piece! There is nothing like a perfectly executed upcycled furniture project and this would be one…hands down! It was made from and old bed. I actually thought that it was an vintage church pew. To make this piece even more special, Barbara tells us that it was purchased while they lived in Brussels, Belgium. It was made by a very old and dear Flemish neighbor in a 300 year old barn. Now tell me this isn’t so cool…you got to go int the barn and choose a bed from the stacks of antique beds in the barn…then he worked his magic and turned an antique bed into pure art! This is by far going to be a family heirloom…you grow tired of it…I can arrange the transport to Jersey : ) it is just perfect in every possible way…
just look at the detailing!
Now we are entering the Living Room…aka…A Room with a View. It actually glows!
Ah…the perfect spot to drink you coffee and look at a magazine…perfect lightening! The hutch is amazing!
The band of fabulous vintage furniture continues. Just look at this beautiful vintage drop leaf desk that sits so beautifully in this corner. Then there is the piece of art…it is a self portrait of Barbara’s husband’s late Aunt.  She was a graduate of Julliad and was also an Opera Singer in my favorite town…NYC! The colors are so vibrant and remind me so much of a Fridah Kahlo piece of art.
Oh and tell me that that vintage chippy….worn and wonderful door isn’t spectacular! Now you have to read the story behind it…right here!
This lovely Room with a View is an eclectic treasure. Drop by to see more!
Time to pay a little visit to my favorite room of all homes…the Kitchen!
Some great faux brick…painted backsplash and wooden counter tops…they are there till Barb decides what kind of granite she wants,,,that was over 5 years ago…I am sure some day the granite will be decided on…till then…these look fab!
This room is filled with fun and imaginative accessories! Once again…upcyling just steals my heart!
Now every kitchen should have a pot of these!
This is where all the delicious morning goodness…the Breakfast Room!
The hutch is simply MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVALOUS with all of the vintage moo cow creamers! So charming!
Now the Breakfast Room is not the only place where the family gathers for their meals! Welcome to the Dining Room.
Oh I love all of the vintage goodness that has been collected! You can find out about the wonderful European Flea Market Experiences right here!
What a gorgeous vintage tureen and even more wonderful saying…it was one of Barbara’s Mom’s favorite…take a moment to read about it if you would like your heart warmed!
Barbara adores her laundry room and so do I…here’s a sneak peek and some cool “laundry room” art!!! Drop by to get the “full spin” on the room!
You also have to stop by the Family Room or should we call it the Man Room! This is where the collection of English landscapes is kept along with hubby’s collection of British military art.
Fascinating!
You will even find Kitty Royalty here!
What British space is not complete without a PUB!!! Do you have Guiness on tap? I’ll take a cold pint! : )
This room is truly the perfect place for family gatherings…so open and large! There is so much more to see…so drop by any time!
There are so many other things to see here at The Everyday Home…I hope you take the time to visit the other rooms…experience and be enriched from all of the wonderful project and recipes
There is one thing you have to do…really really!!!! You have to visit this creating a Fairy Garden Post…it is simply MAGICAL!!!! I do believe that Tinkerbell herself lives there and that Barb possesses the magic pixie dust! Here’s little sparkle from the post and then you must transport yourself as fast as you little wings will take you over there…ok! : ) Tell her that Peter Pan sent you!
I am sure you are going to want to say in touch with Barb and here is how you can…
